Amongst the numerous activities that you can do in the area is a must-see visit to historic spa town of Besalú. Here you will find the only Jewish baths known on the Iberian peninsula, an outstanding example of a Romanic stone costruction dating back to the 12th century. A visit to the Miqwé ritual baths is highly recommended, descending a stone staircase to witness the place where Hebrew women participated in ceremonious bathing. Remains of the synagogue abutting the city walls close to the river are the last testament to the small Jewish community that once lived here.
